Details Introduction
Liu Chunlin, from Hejian Prefecture in Zhili Province, was the last top scholar of the Qing Dynasty. He studied at the famous Lianchi Academy for over ten years. As a child, he was exceptionally intelligent. One day, while seeing his grandmother sorting black beans and sorghum in the countryside, Liu Chunlin poured them on the ground to feed the chickens. As the saying goes, "Chickens don't eat beans; beans are their uncle," naturally the sorting was completed, and the villagers praised him for this.
After the fall of the Qing Dynasty, Liu Chunlin repeatedly refused to serve the 'puppet Manchukuo government' and the 'Japanese invaders.' He empathized with the suffering of the people, provided relief to disaster victims, sponsored education, and opened a bookstore, earning the love of the common people. To commemorate him, the locals carefully prepared 'Top Scholar Chicken' using local ingredients.
The talented Liu Chunlin from Baoding is renowned for his exceptional wisdom.
Winning the top scholar title in the Golden Hall, his fellow villagers cooked chicken to honor this achievement.
The meat is fragrant, tender, and not tough, bringing joy to those who pass the exams.
A well-known top scholar dish from Baoding, it is a must-order at banquets and receives great reviews.
